On Jan. 17th 2017, Prof. Hongzhi Tang from Shanghai Jiaotong University and Prof. Huajun Zheng from Shanghai Family Planning Research Institute were invited to give a talk at Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), Chinese Academy of Sciences. The lecture was held in the conference room of Energy House 111 and hosted by Prof. Fuli Li, the group leader of Microbial Resources team.
First of all, Prof. Tang from Shanghai Jiaotong University gave a presentation titled "Microbial metabolism of nicotine". Nicotine is the main toxic compound in tobacco, and it accumulates with tobacco wastes during the processing of tobacco products. Nicotine can easily spread into the environment due to its water solubility and endanger the health of humans and other organisms. Microbial biodegradation is one of the best remediation strategies to remove nicotine from the environment. During the talk, Prof. Tang mainly introduced the pyrrolidine pathway of nicotine biodegradation, referring to microbial screening, discovery of new metabolic pathways and key enzymes, structural biology, and metabolic regulation mechanisms.
The second talk titled "Research from Microbes to Microbiome" was given by Prof. Zheng from Shanghai Family Planning Institute, which mainly introduced the significance of microbiome study for traditional microbiological research. Combined with several specific studies, Prof. Zheng explained the relation between human microbiota and diseases, such as diabetes and hypertension. Finally the study orientation and prospect of microbiome were discussed.
The researchers and students showed great interest and enthusiasm in the lectures. Followed by a warm discussion, the talks have provided a valuable reference for the researchers. At the same time, combined with their own studies, the participants also exchanged the experience with the experts, which laid good foundation for potential collaboration.
On August 18, 2016, invited by microbial resources team leader Li Fuli and microalgae biotechnology team leader Liu Tianzhong , Assistant Charin from Chiang Mai University and professor Yuan Zhenhong and his party from Guangzhou Energy Institute,came to our institute to have the China - Thailand tripartite cooperation project exchange. The meeting discussed the basic research on the zero-emission bio-refining process of lignocellulosic fuel ethanol.
The meeting was chaired by Prof. Li Fuli. Xin Hongchuan and Liu Tianzhong attended the meeting. During the meeting, Dr. Noppol Leksawasdi of Chiang Mai University briefed the Thai team on the current research direction and achievements, and then made a detailed introduction to the latest progress of the tripartite cooperation and exchange project. "Progress Report on Biorefinery Production from Biomaterials by Zero Waste Technology". Dr. Zhuang Xinshu of Guangzhou Energy Institute conducted a report entitled "Research Progress in Biorefinery process of Zero Waste Technology in GIEC", which was presented in detail in the report on the results of the tripartite cooperation project. The participants showed great interest, and put forward a number of issues, all the pepple site launched a lively discussion.
Subsequently, I published a report entitled "Natural stress-tolerant yeasts and their potential applications in biotechnology" by Dr. Wang Shi'an, Dr. Zhang Wei gave a report entitled "Protplast formulated technology of Haematococcus pluvials and its application on economic improvement" The Thailand and Guangzhou Energy side of the report on the above show a high degree of concern, the meeting's atmosphere is very warm. At the end of the meeting, Prof. Yuan Zhenhong summed up the meeting and expressed the prospect of future tripartite cooperation projects.
July 4 to 6, at the invitation of Prof. Li Fuli, head of the microbial resources team, Sergey Yarotskiy, deputy director of the Russian Institute of Industrial Microbiology and Genetics and Breeding, and Anna Sklyarenko, head of the enzyme engineering team, visited our institute.
Professor Anna Sklyarenko gave a detailed introduction to her research and gave an academic report entitled "Immobilization of Lipases". Many Chinese teams are interested in the report and discuss it.
Accompanied by Prof. Li Fuli, they visited the laboratory of microbial resources and public laboratories. Prof. Li Fuli introduced the related large-scale instruments and corresponding methods that need to be used in cooperation and exchange projects. Prof. Li Fuli and Prof. Lui Ming gave a lecture on the excavation and development of some of the tools that have been used in industrial applications.
The methods and advantages and disadvantages of the two kinds of strains were discussed in detail, and the engineering yeast strains for the production of dicarboxylic acids were synthesized and evaluated. The next step was discussed. After discussion, both sides believe that metabolic engineering can be complementary advantages, and in the integration of resources to continue to transform the strain to meet the industrial production made a clear idea. The two sides agreed to promote the industrial application of engineering strains in-depth cooperation to speed up the production of bio-production of dicarboxylic acid process.

The theme of this meeting is for the new insecticide creation process of practice and feelings. Professor Zhang Jiwen used the concept of sustainable development to discuss the development of new natural pesticides, explore the development direction and trend of pesticide development in the future, promote the advanced experience and advantages of new natural pesticide Celangulin, in order to reduce the harm of pesticide use Provide direction, to create an environment-friendly society to contribute.
Cynomolgus is a perennial woody plant of the genus Corydalis, which has insecticidal activity and is one of the more insecticidal plants in China. Since 1980, Wu Wenjun and other research on Celangulin multidisciplinary, and made many new progress. In the aspect of direct utilization, the extraction of its resources and distribution, biological activity, the extraction of active ingredients and the processing of the preparation were studied. In the basic research, 19 insecticidal active ingredients were isolated and identified from the root bark extract of Celastrus angustifolia , Of which 15 are new compounds. Based on these studies, Prof. Zhang Jiwen reported the interaction mechanism, production process, product toxicity and recent progress in the research of natural plant insecticides in the process of creation of new insecticides.
